Gain Knowledge to Fill the Growing Demand for Health Data Professionals

New, non-credit certificate adds to University College’s robust healthcare management and health data science programs.

Denver is fast becoming a hub for both technology and healthcare, with significant implications for business. With vast amounts of patient data being collected every day, professionals who can interpret and use that data to inform decisions are in demand.

As the health data industry continues to quickly evolve, University of Denver’s University College is at the forefront of meeting industry needs through graduate and non-credit health informatics programs.

Students in these programs learn to leverage health data tools and applications to achieve business and research outcomes within the health sector. Thanks to three unique offerings, all using real data and technology, there is a program to grow your knowledge and meet scheduling needs.

Which program is the right choice for you? From nurses looking to take a health data position within an organization to clinical practitioners seeking for more knowledge on the emerging informatics industry and hoping to earn continuing education credits, University College has you covered.

Master’s Degree in Health Informatics

The 12-course Health Informatics graduate degree is ideal for physicians, nurses, and other clinical providers looking to enter data analytics positions in the health industry and healthcare organizations. The instructor-led program focuses on both theoretical and practical applications of health informatics, and it can be completed in as few as 18 months.

Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics

The four- or six-course Health Informatics graduate certificate is designed for professionals with experience in IT and data, looking to enter the health industry or work for a healthcare organization. The instructor-led program focuses on both theoretical and practical applications of health data, and can be completed in six to nine months.

Non-Credit Health Data Informatics and Analytics Certificate

The six-course, non-credit certificate offered through University of Denver’s Center for Professional Development is ideal for clinical practitioners needing continuing education credits, professionals preparing for industry certification exams, and clinicians aiming to integrate more data into decision-making. The coach-led, self-paced curriculum is focused on practical health data applications. The certificate offers eight Continuing Education Units per course.

Through the Sentinel U Simulation lab, students receive hands-on access to real data and technology, build skills in data and informatics tools used within the health industry, and get direct coach-led feedback on.

This competency-based series also includes critical thinking exercises and portfolio assignments and projects, in addition to memory-check quizzes to prove your competency. The course outcomes are aligned with the competencies needed to successfully complete the certifications offered by professional organizations like American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). Students earn a non-credit certificate at the completion of all six courses.
