Alumna Karyn Meek Talks COVID, Broadway, and Balance with RadioEd Podcast
Broadway’s biggest shows are leading a nationwide revival that returns musicians, dancers, cast, and crew to the spotlight. For some, the pandemic pause sparked creativity, but it also spawned questions about inequities, irregular hours, extended travel, and high pressure.
This week’s University of Denver’s RadioEd podcast, Return of the Arts: The Show Must Go On, features University College alumna Karyn Meek who was working with Disney’s “The Lion King” when the COVID-19 pandemic took hold. Meek, a longtime Broadway stage manager, shares how COVID changed her perspective on work-life balance.
Also featured on the podcast is Aisha Ahmad-Post, executive director of the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts, who reflects on what organizations endured over the last year and the challenges they face in a changed environment.
