The University College Community Thanks Nurses and Clinicians

“Save one life, and you’re a hero. Save 100 lives, and you’re a nurse.”

Nurse Appreciation Week runs May 6-12, and while we celebrate nurses throughout the year, University College at the University of Denver wants to express our appreciation for those on the front lines of healthcare.

To all of our past, current, and future students, as well as our faculty, in the field of nursing, we give you a heartfelt thank you! Whether you are a graduate of our Healthcare Management program, currently taking classes, or taking a pause to dedicate your time to clinical work (like many of our Centura Health students), University College is proud to have you as part of our community.

“During Nurse Appreciation Week, and always, I’d like to send good thoughts for peace and healing to my nursing colleagues,” said Rachel Rogers, Healthcare Management program assistant director, adding that whether you are currently practicing or in a different field, you are always a nurse at heart. “You’re never a ‘former’ nurse. This is my first year away from the hospital setting, and I’m really feeling the pull of my experience in nursing this year.”

The Healthcare Management program is a popular choice for healthcare professionals across the board, including those in nursing. Many are drawn to the program seeking the knowledge to positively impact the field of nursing on a higher level. Often, these students are taking classes while working full-time, which is a testament to their dedication.

“The clinicians and nurses in our program are looking for a bigger picture view of how to impact the profession, either on a legislative, state or organizational level. They learn to create policies and processes that support the work of the clinician,” said Rogers. “We are creating the next generation of leaders who can bring the skills of the clinician path into their leadership.”

As Nurse Appreciation Week winds down early next week, we also look forward to celebrating all of our healthcare professionals during Hospital Week, which runs May 10-16.

“I’d like to give a shout out to all of our clinician colleagues. For all of you on the front lines, no matter what job, we need you all and thank you,” Rogers said.
