Graduation Stories: Gillian Frohnsdorff
We asked graduates to share their journey to graduation. Here is what Gillian Frohnsdorff (Environmental Policy & Management) had to say in her own words…
I started my journey in June 2020, taking advantage of the extra time so many of us had during those days. I’d only ever taken one online class before, so going through the entire program online was certainly a new experience for me (I live in Southern California, so even when the campus opened back up, I continued online). I have appreciated that option so much, and although it certainly has come with challenges (for example, assigned group work even though everyone lives in different time zones!), and I have missed the on-campus experience that I had during undergrad, these past two years have been a wonderful learning experience and have really helped me learn to discipline myself.
Your time is truly your own with asynchronous classes, and I learned very quickly that you need to manage that time better than you ever have before. I am thankful for the help from my professors, even though we’ve never met in person, and I’m so grateful for my partner, who’s supported me all along the way and even traveled with me to be here today. It’s been a good two years, and I’m excited to join the environmental field.
Congratulations to Gillian and all of our spring graduates who celebrated commencement!
